i-observe is a classroom observation iPad app that provides a series of lenses through which to observe learning and teaching. i-observe helps monitor teaching; supporting leaders analyse strengths, areas for development or the impact of professional development over time or across teams, key stages or curriculum areas. It promotes professional dialogue around teaching and learning more generally or helps you develop specific aspects of classroom practice. It develops observation skills giving less confident observers a framework to help them evaluate the impact of teaching on learning thus making their judgments less subjective. i-observe is designed for use by leaders who monitor teaching and learning across the school or in subject or key stage areas. It supports those who observe learning to improve the effectiveness of teaching. Teacher trainers, who work to develop teacher expertise, will find this invaluable. in addition i-observe will enable teachers who participate in peer observation better understand their practice as well as supporting teachers who want to reflect on their own practice.
i-observe uses research evidence to create a series of descriptors by which to judge or investigate the quality of teaching and learning. Furthermore, it provides you with suggestions on what evidence to gather to inform your judgement for example, what to look for in pupils books or what to ask pupils. Add your own comments to justify or explain your views of teaching and learning then save and email yourself a PDF summary report.
